1. Bentota Beach: Known for its long, golden sands and calm waters, Bentota Beach is a haven for
sunbathers, swimmers, and water sports enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy activities like jet skiing,
windsurfing, and snorkeling. 
2. Bentota River (Bentara Ganga): The river is perfect for boat rides and river safaris, where
travelers can explore the mangroves, spot water monitors, and catch glimpses of exotic bird
species. The Bentota River meets the sea here, creating a scenic estuary popular for relaxing
cruises. 
3. Brief Garden by Bevis Bawa: This beautiful garden, created by Bevis Bawa, a well-known Sri
Lankan artist, is about a 15-minute drive from Bentota. The garden is filled with exotic plants,
sculptures, and quirky art installations, offering a unique artistic experience in a lush, serene
setting. 
4. Turtle Hatchery: Several turtle hatcheries in the Bentota area work to protect endangered turtle
species like the green turtle, hawksbill turtle, and leatherback turtle. Visitors can learn about
turtle conservation efforts and even witness baby turtles being released into the sea. 
5. Kande Viharaya Temple: This ancient Buddhist temple, around 10 kilometers (6 miles) from
Bentota, is famous for its large Buddha statue, one of the tallest in Sri Lanka. The temple is rich
in history and an important site for local Buddhists. 
6. Lunuganga Estate: This estate was the former country residence of renowned Sri Lankan
architect Geoffrey Bawa. It offers beautiful views of the Bentota River and is an architectural
masterpiece, with gardens, pools, and unique colonial-era designs.
